Evelyn Stanbury has completed courses with the International Foundation of Doll Makers and The Doll Artisan Guild and holds teaching certificates from both organizations. She has been teaching the fine art of porcelain doll making since 1986. The quality of the dolls produced in her studio is a testimony to the expertise of her teaching skills. Her students have won many of the top awards in Canada and the US, including the coveted "Millie" and "Maggie" awards from the Doll Artisan Guild competitions.  The care and attention to detail in every doll Evelyn makes is also recognized in her own dolls winning  many Best of Category Rosettes and Best of Show Trophies, both in Canada and the United States, as well. These rosettes and trophies have been won for Reproduction Antique Dolls, Reproduction Modern Dolls and Original Artist Dolls. In addition to reproducing antique and modern dolls, Evelyn has created several original dolls of her own.

A great believer in the benefits of continuing education, Evelyn has taken many different kinds of seminars herself. As her interests cover quite a wide spectrum, the seminars she has taken range from sculpting dolls to china painting. A regular participant in the Doll Artisan Guild Seminar Program, Evelyn has completed the Apprentice Courses and many Specialty and Advanced Seminars. In 1994, she achieved her MASTER OF DOLL MAKING with HONORS, Certificate and Medallion. In 1995, she received her GRAND MASTER OF DOLL MAKING Certificate and Medal, having won a Blue Ribbon on her Large Jumeau Arielle at the New York Convention.

In 1995, Evelyn became a Certified Doll Artisan Guild Instructor , and has taught many successful seminars since that time.

Evelyn has also given lectures at various women's luncheons and was a guest speaker on the women's program at the Canadian Paint Manufacturer's Association Annual National Convention. She has demonstrated the arts of doll making and china painting at many community events such as the B.C. Summer Games, the Pacific National Exhibition, etc. A regular contributor of displays at the libraries around the Vancouver Area, she has shared her dolls with many members of the general public who would otherwise never encounter the art.

She was also involved as a key member of the committee producing the Western Canada Doll Festivals, in Vancouver. In 1998, this event included, for the first time ever in Canada, the awarding of the coveted Millie and the Magge, the two top doll making awards in the World.

Evelyn is married and has two grown children, who have contributed four lovely grandchildren to the family. She and her husband operate a home studio-distribution business known as Stanec's (STANbury, Evelyn and Clive) Dolls Ltd. Her daughter Cheryl is in the process of training to be a doll making teacher, as well. Clive retired as President of General Paint Ltd., after 33 years with the company. He now is occupied full time with golfing, consulting to the paint industry and assisting with the books, the pouring and the distribution of supplies for the doll business and vainly trying to "manage" Evelyn.
