A. 11 T. PAINTING PICTURE DETAIL
* EYES AND EYE DOTS *
PAINTING NOTE: The eyelashes on this doll are beautifully painted. The strokes are slightly tapered from the rim of the eye out to the end. This is achieved by making a small dot of paint on the inner edge of the eye rim and then taking your brush out and putting just the tip of the brush into the drop of paint resting on the rim of the eye. You then pull the paint out to the edge of the eyelash. As your paint is used up, the lash becomes thinner and ends with a deliberate stop at the exact length desired. The spacing is very regular and the slant is fairly extreme.

PAINTING NOTE: The eye dots on the AT are fairly pale. Decide which of the two you like (because the original ones were quite different from each other) and correct this "mistake" to make your dots equal in strength of color. As the eye dots on other examples of this type of doll are not so different, it can be assumed that this was not a characteristic of this doll, but was simply a slight error on the part of the original painter. These are the types of "errors" judges are referring to and like to see corrected.
