ORDER NUMBER - GDL735 - S&H SWEETHEART

A very special doll.  Sweetheart was commissioned by America's Sweetheart, Mary Pickford.  She wanted the doll to look exactly like her, but she also wanted it to look like a child.  The sculptor did a marvelous job.  It looked exactly like Mary Pickford, except Mary was 28 when the doll was sculpted and it was impossible to make it look like a child AND exactly like Mary.  The doll was never produced.   The one finished doll was supposed to be destroyed, but in fact, was rescued by the gentleman who had been charged with having the doll made.   Many, many years later, this doll was discovered, in brand new condition.  It was put up for auction,  and was purchased by a Hollywood personality who loved collecting celebrity dolls.  The Doll Artisan Guild was lucky enough to be allowed to make a very small copy of this doll, which was introduced at their convention in 1998.  This doll can be done as a child, but is also equally suitable done as a lady.
